Our Family of Churches

 

We are a family of churches passionate about advancing the Great Commission through church planting. In support of that mission we facilitate partnerships among pastors, operate a Pastors College, host events, and publish books, music, and other resources. The best way to get to know us is by visiting one of our local churches, but as a starting point, this overview of the ministry should give you a fuller picture of who we are:

 

• Beliefs: We are evangelical, Reformed, and continuationist (read more).

• Size: Our family includes about 95 churches. Most of them are in the U.S., with some in Canada, Mexico, Bolivia, western Europe, eastern Africa, eastern Asia, and Australia. In all, we partner to varying degrees with pastors and church-planting networks in 21 countries.

• Origins: Sovereign Grace Ministries was founded in 1982 out of Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland. We were originally known as People of Destiny International, but changed the name to Sovereign Grace Ministries in 2003.
